Fuel Filling Stations (Ex07 – Ex08)
Installation and inspection of Ex electrical equipment for Fuel Filling Stations
The qualification is designed for electrotechnical personnel who work in fuel filling stations, including independent and privately owned sites.
This course ensures compliance with legal, technical, and safety standards when working with or near hazardous locations involving flammable gases or vapours.
On completion, candidates will be able to:
- Identify key regulations and standards including
- Petroleum Licensing Authority requirements
- Correctly classify hazardous areas in fuel forecourt environments
- Understand hazardous gas and vapour characteristics relevant to fuel forecourts
- Demonstrate knowledge of Ex equipment including protection methods (Ex ‘d’, ‘e’, ‘n’, ‘p’, ‘m’, ‘o’, ‘q’, ‘s’, and Intrinsic Safety (IS))
- Accurately test electrical characteristics, including supply externals, earth electrodes, and diverted neutral currents specific to forecourts

Who Should Attend?
This course is ideal for those involved in the selection, installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and Ex equipment in fuel filling station environments, including:
- Electrotechnical operatives
- Engineers with relevant experience
- Those working in fuel retail infrastructure
Eligibility Criteria
Participants must be:
- Practicing competent electrotechnical professionals
