Small Bore Tubing (SBT)

Inspection and maintenance of Small-Bore Tubing assemblies on industrial sites (SBT)

This qualification has been developed in alignment with Energy Institute (EI) guidelines and is specifically designed for technicians involved in the inspection, maintenance, and integrity assurance of Small-Bore Tubing assemblies on industrial sites.

This course ensures technicians have the knowledge and practical capability to conduct safe and compliant SBT inspections, helping reduce the risk of leaks or failures in process systems.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand hazards, risks, and failure mechanisms in SBT systems
  • Identify and classify tubing, fittings, and installation types
  • Conduct pre-job planning and visual inspection techniques
  • Correctly complete inspection reports and documentation
  • Apply guidance from the Energy Institute’s SBT standard

The training builds on prior installation competence (Stage 1), followed by inspection-specific instruction (Stage 2), enabling candidates to meet real-world expectations for safety-critical work.

Who Should Attend?

This qualification is ideal for:

  • SBT technicians responsible for inspection, maintenance, or integrity checks
  • Individuals previously trained in SBT assembly (e.g., ECITB SBT01/02 or TSBT01/02)
  • Personnel working in oil & gas, petrochemicals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, power generation, and other high-hazard industries

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must provide evidence of prior training or assessment in SBT installation, such as:
