CompEx Introduces Flexible Modularisation for Ex01–Ex04

CompEx Introduces Flexible Modularisation for Ex01–Ex04
CompEx recently announced the launch of its new Ex01–Ex04 Modularisation framework, designed to provide a more flexible and role specific approach to competency validation for professionals working with Ex electrical equipment in hazardous environments.

The new modular structure allows organisations and technicians to focus on the specific skills required for their operational roles, while maintaining the rigorous safety and technical standards associated with CompEx certification.

Under the updated system, the core units are delivered as complementary pairs, enabling more targeted training and assessment pathways.

Available combinations include:

  • Ex01 + Ex02 – Preparation, installation, inspection and maintenance of non-intrinsically safe (Non-IS) Ex electrical equipment
  • Ex03 + Ex04 – Preparation, installation, inspection and maintenance of intrinsically safe (IS) Ex electrical equipment
  • Ex01 + Ex03 – Preparation and installation of IS and Non-IS Ex equipment
  • Ex02 + Ex04 – Inspection and maintenance of IS and Non-IS Ex equipment

This practitioner level qualification is aimed at electrical and instrument technicians responsible for installing, inspecting and maintaining certified Ex electrical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Training continues to be delivered in person through CompEx Approved Training Providers, with assessment durations varying depending on the selected module combination. The modular system also allows candidates to build their competency over time by completing additional modules separately if required.
